1. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the Sahwa mobile app and the Sahwa web version, including the content services, prayer times, alerts, widgets and the floating card connected to the app.
2. Information the app processes
- Your settings and local content: such as favorites, your last reading position, Quran settings, azkar preferences and alert settings. This data is saved on your device in the app’s local storage.
- A random installation ID: the app creates a random ID that does not reveal your name or email. It is used to link your Sahwa experience preferences to the device when syncing is turned on.
- Experience preferences: if learning from your choices is turned on, the app may send general preferences such as reading style, chosen topics and signals of interaction with Sahwa content. The app does not read the screen of other apps, your messages or their text.
- Limited usage analytics: general events may be sent, such as opening a section, page or story, along with the content type, platform and time. The server records the IP address when available and may derive an approximate country or city from it for operational and analytical purposes. No free-text fields, screen content or contacts are sent.
- Location: used to calculate prayer times from your current location only when you choose to. The city and location settings needed for the calculation are saved locally in the app, and the app does not request your location in the background for advertising.
- Permissions and alerts: notifications, exact alarms, the audio service, widgets and display over other apps are used only to provide the features you choose to turn on, such as the Adhan, alerts and the Sahwa card.
3. What the app does not collect
Sahwa does not ask you to create an account or for your name or email, and it does not sell personal data. It does not ask for your contacts, camera or microphone, and it does not monitor other apps or their content.
4. How we use information
- To provide the Quran, azkar, hadith, the Seerah and prayer times.
- To save your preferences and run the favorites, reading and alerts you have chosen.
- To calculate prayer times for the location or city you set.
- To improve app stability and content performance, and to understand the most used sections in aggregate.
- To protect the service, detect misuse, and handle faults and technical requests.
5. Storage and sharing
We do not sell your information or use it to build advertising profiles. Data may be processed by the hosting provider and the technical services needed to run the Sahwa interface, its API and content delivery. The operating system may send some permission and notification data under its own policies.
We share data only when needed to run or protect the service, or when there is a legal obligation. We do not control the policies of external websites or services that you open from the app.
6. Retention and deletion
Local settings and favorites remain until you delete them in the app, clear the app’s data or uninstall it. In Settings you can choose Clear learning history to delete the synced Sahwa experience profile linked to the installation ID. We keep operational logs and limited analytics for as long as needed for operation, security and improvement, and then delete them or aggregate them statistically as needed.
7. Your choices and rights
- Turn off learning from your choices in Settings.
- Clear the synced learning history in Settings.
- Refuse the location, notification, alarm or display-over-other-apps permissions in your system settings.
- Delete local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its data.
- Request information or help about privacy through the app’s page and the developer details on Google Play.
8. Children
Sahwa is a general Islamic content app and is not designed to collect data from children. We do not knowingly collect personally identifying information from children, and we do not ask for personal data to create an account.
9. Security and changes
We use reasonable measures to protect data in transit and in storage, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change, and we will change the update date at the top of this page.
